Princess Kate could be sent on huge US trip to ‘charm Donald Trump’

Reports suggest that the Princess of Wales may play a pivotal role in a royal charm offensive aimed at strengthening UK-US relations this year. With two major trips to the United States planned for 2026 the King’s state visit in April and Prince William’s visit in July Catherine could emerge as a key diplomatic presence.

While the palace has not confirmed details, sources indicate that Catherine could accompany William to the US to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4. This trip would also coincide with William’s plan to support England during the World Cup. According to The Times, her participation signals her improving health after a previous cancer diagnosis, which she revealed in 2024. Last January, Catherine announced she was in remission and has gradually resumed her royal duties.

Kate Mansey, royal editor at The Times, highlighted the potential impact of Catherine’s presence:

"With her health apparently improving, there has been a suggestion that Catherine and William will make a joint foreign visit this year, perhaps to the US for the 250th anniversary of independence. Catherine and Melania Trump appear to share a good rapport, including a shared interest in the scouting movement. This could be a strategic advantage for UK-US relations."

The Princess of Wales has previously demonstrated her diplomatic charm. During Donald Trump’s second state visit to the UK in September, he praised Catherine, describing her as “radiant and so healthy” at a state banquet in Windsor Castle. He also commended Prince William, noting the Prince’s remarkable upbringing.

William and Catherine last visited the United States in 2022, and reports suggest that their presence in 2026 could further reinforce Britain’s ties with the US at a time when international alliances are under close scrutiny.
