Now, some supporters believe the solution might lie in a royal marriage. The theory goes that if Barron, 19, were to marry Denmark’s Princess Isabella, 18, Greenland could be handed to the U.S. as part of a dowry solving Trump’s Greenland ambitions in one fell swoop.

European leaders, however, have been clear on the matter. On Tuesday, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Denmark issued a joint statement: “Greenland belongs to its people, and only Denmark and Greenland can decide on matters concerning their relations.”
