The friendship between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein has long been a topic of speculation, especially after the financier’s criminal convictions and shocking death in 2019. New details now suggest that Trump’s decision to cut ties with Epstein was linked to disturbing behaviour by the disgraced financier toward a teenage Mar-a-Lago employee.
Trump and Epstein were known to be friends throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, well before Epstein’s high-profile convictions for solicitation of minors. While the exact reasons for their falling out remained unclear for years, Trump has previously indicated that it occurred after Epstein attempted to recruit staff from Mar-a-Lago. During a 2025 visit to the UK, Trump commented:
“He took people, I say ‘don’t do it anymore,’ you know they work for me… beyond that, he took some others. Once he did that, that was the end of him.”
According to reports from The Wall Street Journal and former employees, the decisive factor appears to have been a complaint from an 18-year-old beautician in 2003. She reportedly informed Mar-a-Lago management that Epstein had pressured her for sex during appointments. Staff also described instances where Epstein made sexually suggestive comments and, at times, exposed himself while receiving spa treatments.
While previous complaints to local authorities are unclear, this particular incident reportedly led to Epstein being banned from the resort.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the president, stating:
“President Trump did nothing wrong and he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for being a creep.”
The revelation comes amid renewed public and congressional scrutiny over Epstein-related documents. In late December 2025, the U.S. Justice Department announced it had uncovered over one million additional documents connected to Epstein, delaying the release of materials previously ordered by Congress. A bipartisan group of senators, including 11 Democrats, called for a full audit to ensure victims receive transparency and accountability.
As the Epstein files continue to dominate headlines, the focus on Trump’s past associations with the financier remains a contentious topic, highlighting both political and legal pressures still surrounding one of the most infamous figures of recent decades.
