Late night host Jimmy Kimmel has once again made headlines after delivering a fiery response to former President Donald Trump, following a temporary suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The ABC show was briefly pulled “indefinitely” after Kimmel made controversial remarks connected to the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk a decision that Trump publicly celebrated.
Kimmel later sat down with fellow late-night comedian Stephen Colbert on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert which also faced cancellation after Colbert criticized Trump. During their conversation, Kimmel didn’t hold back, calling Trump a “son of a b****.” Colbert quickly lightened the moment, jokingly correcting him with “Mr. Son of a B***.”
Kimmel went on to express disbelief at Trump’s behavior, saying:
“I never imagined we’d have a president like this. I never thought I’d see a president celebrate hundreds of Americans losing their jobs, or take pleasure in it. That’s the opposite of leadership.”
In a show of solidarity, Colbert later appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well. Kimmel joked:
“We thought it might be fun to drive the president crazy. So Stephen is here it’s the show the FCC doesn’t want you to see.”
The controversy began after Kimmel criticized Trump supporters, saying:
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to spin the killing of Charlie Kirk in their favor, desperate to make political points.”
Following the suspension, fans launched petitions demanding ABC reinstate the program, and soon enough, the show returned on air. The move reportedly infuriated Trump, who posted on Truth Social:
“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. His audience is gone, and his ‘talent’ was never there.”
The clash between Trump and late-night hosts like Kimmel and Colbert is nothing new, but this latest round highlights the ongoing tension between entertainment, politics, and free speech in America’s media landscape.
