Donald Trump explodes at CNN reporter live on air as urgent statement turns tense
U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines once again after an awkward moment unfolded during a recent press conference streamed on the White House’s official YouTube channel.
As Trump opened the floor for questions, he initially called on a CNN reporter but seconds later, he abruptly interrupted and dismissed her before she could even finish speaking.
“This is CNN speaking, by the way,” Trump said sharply, before adding, “This is one of the worst reporters that you’ll ever see.” He then waved his hand and continued, “I don’t even want to take a question, it’s a waste of time.”
He quickly moved on to another journalist, leaving the CNN reporter visibly uncomfortable.
The clip of the exchange has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), where it has ignited a mix of laughter and outrage. Some users mocked CNN, with one writing, “Trump makes this CNN reporter tuck her tail between her legs.” Another user joked, “Being a CNN reporter in the Trump era is like being the guy in Greek mythology who has to push a boulder uphill forever.”
But not everyone found the moment amusing. Critics accused Trump of bullying behavior and undermining press freedom. One user commented, “If Americans celebrate this kind of disrespect, we’re in a very dark place.” Another added, “He didn’t make her tuck her tail he just talked over her. That’s not strength, that’s insecurity.”
Trump has a long and well-documented history of clashing with CNN, often calling the network “fake news” and accusing it of having “no credibility.” During his presidency, he regularly criticized both CNN and MSNBC, once stating: “CNN is scum and so is MSNBC. Frankly, most of the networks aren’t much better. It’s all fake news.”
The viral moment has once again highlighted the polarized relationship between Trump and the media, and how his confrontational approach continues to spark strong reactions across the political spectrum.
