Donald Trump’s UK move sparks major change for the Royal Family

Donald Trump’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom turned out to be far more significant for the Royal Family than many expected. While there were concerns beforehand especially about Trump possibly going off-script the visit ran smoothly and ended up showcasing the monarchy’s diplomatic strengths.

PR expert Lynn Carratt noted that the event helped reinforce the value of the Royal Family on the world stage while also strengthening UK-US ties. According to her, the “public stage has been reset,” giving King Charles and the monarchy a positive boost in international perception.

Reports suggest the visit went so well that Trump is now planning to invite King Charles and Queen Camilla to the U.S. in 2026 for a return state visit. Interestingly, there is even speculation that the invitation might be extended to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Royal commentator Pauline Maclaran, Professor at Royal Holloway, explained that this visit allowed King Charles to display “soft power” skills showing the monarchy’s diplomatic relevance at a time when its role is often questioned. She also pointed out that Trump has long admired the Royal Family, seeing his interactions with them as a way to elevate his own status.

During the state banquet, Trump surprised many by delivering his speech in a measured and respectful tone. Some noticed that Prince Harry was left out of his acknowledgments, but Carratt clarified that it was not meant as a slight. Since Harry is no longer a working royal and was not present at the event, the omission was intentional rather than personal.

In the end, the visit highlighted how the monarchy still plays a vital role in diplomacy, while also showing Trump in a rare moment of restraint. For both sides, it was an opportunity to reset the narrative and strengthen ties.
