Donald Trump to make 'final decision' whether to supply Ukraine with tomahawk missiles

President Donald Trump is expected to make the final call in the coming days on whether the United States will supply Ukraine with Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles, a decision that could reshape the dynamics of the war with Russia.

Vice President JD Vance confirmed in an interview with Fox News that the administration is actively considering the request. He noted, “The president is going to make the final determination. Whatever decision he makes will be based on what’s in the best interest of the United States of America.”

The debate comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky personally urged Trump to provide the missiles during their meeting at the United Nations General Assembly. Kyiv has long pressed Washington for long-range strike capabilities, but previous U.S. administrations turned down those requests. Zelensky argued that access to Tomahawks could pressure Vladimir Putin into serious negotiations.

Trump appears more open to the idea. On Truth Social, he recently stated that Ukraine, with support from the European Union, has the potential to reclaim its territory. His administration has already launched a NATO-backed initiative the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List program which has begun delivering Patriot air defenses and HIMARS rocket systems to Kyiv.

Vance acknowledged frustration within the White House over Moscow’s unwillingness to participate in either bilateral or trilateral peace talks. He stressed that Russia is paying a heavy price in both lives and its economy, while gaining little on the battlefield.

The final decision on Tomahawk missiles could significantly impact Ukraine’s ability to strike deep inside Russian territory, including critical infrastructure. It also raises questions about how far Trump is willing to escalate U.S. support in the conflict, especially as his administration balances military aid with calls for peace negotiations.
